Aftercare for Your Facial Treatment: What You Need to Know

If you're like many people, you may be wondering what your facial treatment aftercare should look like. After all, you want to make sure that you're taking care of your skin properly and getting the most out of your treatment!

Following proper aftercare advice will help you to maximize the benefits of the facial treatment, will help you reach your skin goals faster, and will prevent overstimulation or lingering side effects.

So, what should you do after a facial?

Well, first and foremost, it's important that you avoid touching your face. This means no picking at any blemishes or scabs!

You should also avoid wearing makeup for at least 24 hours, as this can cause irritation and clog your pores.

Cleansing after facial treatment is usually not necessary, but if you prefer, you may just use a gentle cleanser and moisturizer to keep your skin clean and hydrated.

It's also important to avoid exposure to the sun for at least 24 hours after your facial treatment. This means wearing a hat or sunscreen when you're outdoors.

You should also avoid heat treatments like saunas, steam rooms, and hot showers, as these can cause irritation.

You should also avoid using abrasive skincare products like scrubs, or products containing AHA/BHA for at least 48 hours after your facial.

You should also avoid all types of hair removal treatments and/or systems (waxing, sugaring, threading, depilation, laser hair removal) for at least 48 hours after the facial treatment.

Only go for one facial or skincare treatment at a time.

Sometimes a facial can overstimulate the skin and a rash, irritation, or itching may occur. Gently remove all products from the skin with damp cotton wool, apply calamine lotion or aloe vera gel to soothe the skin, and contact us.

Following a deep facial massage (if included in your facial treatment) you might sometimes experience a slight headache or dizziness. This is normal as the lymphatic drainage techniques have stimulated the flushing out of toxins from the skin tissues. Drink plenty of fluids such as water and herbal teas.

Drink plenty of water and eat a healthy diet. This will help your skin to heal and will also improve your overall complexion.

Skincare advice can be helpful, but it's always best to consult with a dermatologist or other skin care professional before making any changes to your routine.
